here's a post from the 'introspection' Category:

Just finished reading Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s The Shadow of the Wind. Just finished reading it. Missed walking Nikki and Shelly to work to do so. I woke up before her, and lied in bed reading it, and then was almost done, and she had had breakfast and coffee and shower, and I was still almost done, so said goodbye and finished the book in bed while she walked to work alone this morning.

Anyway.

I had copied two quotes onto my bookmark (the folded cover — folded boobs side in, after embarrassing shelly while reading on the bus — of the Eyes Wide Open pamphlet from the Aanwinsten Stedelijk Museum), and here they are. The second refers to what I am trying to do (in an admittedly careful and therefore ineffectual manner), and the first refers to what I worry I am doing.

“While you’re working, you don’t have to look life in the eye” p. 375

“Julian spoke with the clear unequivocal lucidity of madmen who have escaped the hypocrisy of having to abide by a reality that makes no sense.” p. 458
