When I first heard about Tao Lin on Bad at Sports, I was prepared to love him. Sloppy fragments, awkward dialogue, slacker animals kidnapping Sean Penn and Elijah Wood, a profusion of pink… what’s not to like.

And then I visited his boring, obsessively self-serving blog with too many photos of his skinny ass (well, not his ass literally, but, you know what I mean), and I had troubles liking him anymore.

Still, I put his book on my wishlist; I just won’t visit his blog anymore.

But then I read this line from his poem ‘i saw you on the street’:

sometimes a beach ball came from the darkness and i hit it back into the darkness

I really like that. Simple, just enough words, sad, effective. But I am still not going to link to his blog.
