Just back from checking out the test print of the Visionary Architecture book (I’ve got Displosable/ Displodable / Pristine Master House Plan, and something I did when i was nine in it) that will be part of Matt Bua and Jesse Berkowitz’s installation at Mass Moca, opening around March 21. There is a brief interview with him at Deep Craft, but the best thing on the site are these excerpts from the The Deep Craft Manifesto (alot is quite akin to things i think and say, while other are warnings for me):
Handwork may be the bedrock of innovation, but nostalgia for handwork is quicksand. All vessels originate with an imagined voyage. When something is no longer useful, its shape can retain symbolic significance. What Makes A Good Day?
And I met Ralph Baker at Bua’s : http://tinyurl.com/czspub & http://www.overcoat.org/legs/legs09.html. Gonna visit his spaceship next week. He’d homesteaded some brooklyn coast for quite awhile. Sounds like some amazing stuff.
