More details once they arrive I force myself back onto the Internet, but here’s the latest art stuff going on in my life, in brief:
The cinema works again!
A project in Vranje, Serbia with Nikoletta Markovic, we turn Vranje’s broken public swimming pool into a free public cinema for one night (May 28), showing favorite movie scenes re-enacted by residents of Vranje, alongside their originals. When we asked about problems in Vranje, many people said “we want our cinema back.” The public swimming pool is broken too. So, we decided to turn the broken public swimming pool into a free public cinema for one night (May 28). But what films to show? We asked for suggestions, and received many American films. “Okay, well then you need to make them yourselves.” So, the films performed in Vranje, Serbia include scenes from Bring it on: all or nothing, Rocky IV, and Star Wars II. The title of the project is Nikoletta’s suggestion: “there is a very well known line from serbian offbeat movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084302/ (Maratonci trce pocasni krug - The Marathon Family) that says: the cinema works again! What do you say?”Lee Walton - Remote Instructions
As part of Lee Walton’s Remote Instructions, I filmed people in Vranje “Hanging in There.” (thanks Rachelle Beaudoin for pointing him out to me)
